I have updated eFI (efloraofindia) page on Tephrosia (Pl. click). Attempts have been made to incorporate most of the species available in India & nearby areas with details & keys directly or through links as far as possible. It’s quite possible that there may be some discrepancy in the accepted names & synonyms taken from other links. Species discussed so far in efloraofindia are given at the bottom of the page in the form of links against Subpages. On clicking them one can see all the details. If someone can provide complete list of Indian species with source references it will be wonderful. Any comments/ corrections are welcome. Thanks for the information. I am unable to open link that you have in your above mail (Tephrosia ). It is stating that it this page is unavailable. I am sure there will be all species of Tephrosia in your link. In western Rajasthan we have 9 species of Tephrosia. T. uniflora, T. falciformis, T. subtriflora, T. leptosthychia are there in addition to T. purpurea, T. villosa. All these are woody perennials (drought tolerant) . Thanks, …, Here is the correct link: Tephrosia More species will be added in due course.
… is helping us by manually adding species from different volumes of Flora of India.
Kindly also include reference of Flora of the Indian Desert- By Prof. M.M. Bhandari.
Thanks, … I am including details from whatever is available on line as I don’t have any Manual books. Others can do so from Manuals etc. as … is doing.
I have compiled and added the list of Indian species. The species suggested by … are also checked. All of them except T.leptostachya are already there in Sanjappa 1992. T. leptostachya is know known as T. purpurea ssp leptostachya, thus listed with T. purpurea. Thanks … for information. Flora by Dr M.M.Bhandari is one of the best flora written in India. However, including one flora but not others will be improper and there are many other good floras or checklist published in India. Therefore, rather than citing any one flora we are mentioning only national level documents like Flora of India volumes or Check lists eg. Legumes of India (Sanjappa 1992) etc.
Tephrosia wallichii is a synonym of T. purpurea and mentioned in the list.
T. strigosa is also mentioned in the list.
Please see the page of Tephrosia.
Really a great efforts. India needs a eflora of India. Thanks for the concern and discussion. T. purpurea and T. wallichii are separate species of Tephrosia. Plants characters are very much different. In the Flora of Indian desert it is clearly mentioned as separate species of Tephrosia. I think in ILDIS (International Legume Data Base and Information System-USDA) both these mentioned as separate species. Kindly check it again and confirm.
Thanks, … As per ILDIS also, T. wallichii is a syn. of T. purpurea –

Pl. go through Tephrosia (Fabaceae (Leguminosae)) page with images of species in efloraofindia. If you find any incorrect identification, pl. let us know. If anybody can send images of other species of this genera (for incorporation in the website), if any, or can identify unidentified images, it will be really nice. |
