Please identify the wildly growing annual prostrate herb that is flowering now
in Delhi.
Flowers are white and small (~0.5 cm across).

Trianthema portulacastrum
Family : Aizoaceae
I don’t know if this character is important or not.
From most of the images of this plant searched on net : Typically the leaf apex is folded in a peculiar way in most instances!

Trienthema ???

Yes, This is Trianthema portulacastrum, a common weed of the sorghum crop, though a good fodder itself…

nice spotting a weed…
you need to do ev adjustment in your camera to -0.3 to – 0.7 ev to get the white/light pink flowers to show their characteristics…
look at the real color of this flower here at this url: fireflyforest

Trianthema portulacastrum L. (Aizoaceae)- Found wild in the field around my house.
Used as green vegetable in South India. The plant has many medicinal uses: used in the treatment of edema in the liver and spleen, uteralgia, and cough. The plant is lithotriptic for the kidney and bladder. In the Indian traditional medicine system, the plant is considered as a diuretic. It has significant hepatoprotective activity against paracetamol and thio-acetamide intoxication in rats. The present investigation is to determine the antioxidant activities of the plant extract in relation to paracetamol and thioacetamide intoxication in rats. Ref / Link for more info.

I agree with you about the adjustment in the camera. But the problem is I do not know how to do it. I have 2 flash settings in the camera 1) Red eye correction On/Off 2)Red eye lamp On/off Is that what you are referring to . Which one of these should be on and which one off. There is nothing like ev adjustment that I find in this camera. I have read the manual too.

Some experimenting with the camera has produced better results. I could also see the flower opening and immediately an ant came foraging the flower. This happened within a minute. Attaching pictures of the same. enjoyed both the moments.

A wild weed seen growing near flowing water in Muscat on 27/10/12.
Kindly confirm id.

as far as I know your plant is correctly named

Yes, this is Trianthema portulacastrum

The problem in this picture is 2 closely related plants are there. 1. Portulaca oleracea (obovate leaf), another is 2. Trianthema portulacastrum (broader leaves)

The first one you have mentioned, Portulaca oleracea is a very common herb.
It was the one with larger leaves that I was trying to validate.

Please identify a spreading plant with purple flower location lonar, jalana February

Plant with large lesf is trianthemma monogyna. Flower is of scrophulariaceae member probably sopubia

The broad leaved herb is Trianthema portulacastrum, the blue flowered leaf is not clear, it may be Lindernia species.

There are two different plants in the photo. The plant with more leaves seems to be Zaleya sp. Z decandra or Z pentandra depending upon the number of stamens. We have to wait for the ID of plant with purple flower.
