Found on tree trunks or less often over rocks. Yes, I think so. It springs up in plants soil in the tubs in the balcony when we use soil from the garden without sterilizing. Right now I have about 6 of them sprouting in my tulsi tub. In the tub though they are much lighter colored leaves than what you have. I used to pinch them off until i discovered some papers indicating it may have some medicinal value so I am letting them grow to full maturity in the tub and hope they don’t take up all the nutrition meant for the Tulsi.
