lovely! I think this is the fully developed form of the same we knew this as chenile plant as we grew up… very common in calcutta homes.. Acalypha sp. from Alipore: I am thankful to … and … for introducing me to the genus Acalypha – efi thread. According to wiki this genera is the fourth largest in Euphorbiaceae family – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acalypha.
How do i know if the inflorescence of this genus is unisexual or bisexual – http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=100064#KEY-1-4? These are microscopic flowers!

This species commonly cultivated is Acalypha chamaedrifolia (Lam.) Müll.Arg. (Basionym: Croton chamaedrifolius Lam.;Synonym: Acalypha reptans Sw.)
I think this has to be Acalypha hispida only unless the plant is a smaller or dwarf variety which is known by the name A.chamaedrifolia or A. reptans
