Botanical name: Amaranthus viridis

Family: Amaranthaceae

Location: Paddar valley Kishtwar J&K

Altitude: 2000-2200 meters asl

Plant habit/habitat: Cultivated herb crop

Requesting to please ID this plant captured at a residential building compound in Mumbai growing wild in the rains in August 2013.

This is a species of Amaranthus possibly the Prickly Amaranthus [A.spinosa].

With my limited understanding, I assume that my plant is still is Amaranthus spinosa….

I don’t see any spines in your Amaranthus pics. So wait for confirmation.
