Succulent spiny shrub or small tree, up to 6 m tall; branches 5-7 angled, 5-7 cm thick, angles more or less undulately winged with paired 3-5 mm long stipular spines on distinct shield, with broad flat faces between; leaves alternate, sessile or sub-sessile, oblanceolate-spatulate, 5-15 cm long; cyathia sessile, in threes, yellowish; glands transversely oblong, ochreous; fruit triradiate, smooth, glabrous.

Photographed from Cactus Garden, Panchkula in April, 2011, from Chakrata, J & K and Delhi. In nature plants have stem little constricted after a distance, but in cultivated forms it is not visible. Yes, this is Euphorbia royleana Boiss, common in subhimalyan ranges up to an altitude of 2000 m.

This Euphorbia was shot from Cactus and Succulent Garden, Panchkula… I am not sure if this is similar to my previous upload, Euphorbia sp. 3, the visible difference to me is the arrangement of cyathia, specially in that they are more in number in this upload.. please help to id… Euphorbia royleana I hope.

From Jim Corbett area, Uttarakhand. It seems to be Euphorbia royleana Boiss. However leaves are necessary to finally confirm it.
The leaves of this species are sessile, obovate or oblanceolate to spathulate, 4 – 10 cm long, 2 – 4 cm wide, glabrous, deciduous, usually not seen when in flower.
