Hypericum perforatum ABAUG2016/43 : 6 posts by 4 authors. 6 images.
This common St John’s Wort is not so common here. I saw a plant for the first time today. Black dots on the petals, glandular sepals and translucent glands on the leaves confirm its identity. Please validate.
Hypericum perforatum—Common St. John’s Wort
Above Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, HP
2050m approx.
16 August 2016.

Thank you … I have made a mistake here by not paying proper attention to the sepals. H. perforatum has sepals which are entire and carry no glands. My specimen could perhaps be H. elodiodes. My apologies. I seek expert advice on this.

Yes absence of punctate glands on leaves, cylindrical stem without glandular lines, glandular sepals and petals all point to Hypericum elodeoides and not H. perforatum.

Thank you very much … Is there anything I could do to be certain? I will try and walk there and find the plant again tomorrow.

Hypericum sp. for ID?? – at Sainj Ropa – GHNP – PKA76 : 6 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (6)

Seen this herb near Sainj Ropa at GHNP at an altitude of approx. 1600m.
Could this be Hypericum perforatum ??
Family: Hypericaceae
Date/Time: 03-10-2014 / 10:00AM
habitat: Wild

one trick to know if you are dealing with st john’s wort is to squish the flower, if your fingertips turn red it is.  I tend to take a white handkerchief and rub a petal or two , red stain… voila

besides the small black dots along the toothed petals and other taxonomic features of course

It looks me Hypericum perforatum too

May be Hypericum japonicum Thunb. as per images herein. It is a highly variable species as per Flora of China

Sorry. Rather appears close to illustration of Hypericum napaulense Choisy at
