Shurb 0.5-2m, leaves ± coriaceous, 3-foliate, elliptic or obovate, 2-6(-9) x 1.5-3.5(-4)cm, acute or obtuse, base rounded, appressed pubescent especially beneath, petioles 2-5cm, stipels subulate 2-3mm, stipules lanceolate, 6-10 x 1.5-2mm. Calyx 3-4mm. Petals purplish, but more deeply along lower one, and dividing into 4-7 elliptic sefmenrs 3-4 x 3mm, appressed pubescent Fl. July-September

Desmodium laxiflorum DC. in Ann.Sci.Nat.Paris ser. 1.4 : 100. Jan. 1825. Syn: Desmodium difusum DC.
Small shrub with pubescent young branches; leaves trifoliate on up to 8 cm long petiole, terminal leaflet up to 15 cm long, lateral leaflets smaller, elliptic to broadly lanceolate; flowers white or pinkish with darker keel, 6-8 mm long, in lax erect raceme; pod 3-5 cm long, 6-10 jointed, both sutures constricted, pubescent.

Flora of Chakrata: Desmodium sp. 2 for id: Desmodium parviflorum Does not match with other images at Desmodiastrum racemosum var. parviflorum (Dalzell) A.Pramanik & Thoth. for which it is a synonym & also there is no distribution in Uttarakhand. Sharing some pictures for ID shot in the Kathmandu suburb on 28 September 2013 at around 5000 ft. Any Desmodium ? Can it be some species of Indigofera? What about the desmodium you recently posted.

Request for ID of this herb from Mizoram. This herb was found to be dominating the hills near Aizawl. Looks like Desmodium sp. Habitat : Wild Desmodium – species in eFIoraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available) The species dose not look like Desmodium. It is Uraria lagopus DC var neglecta ( Prain) Ohashi.

Images in FOI may be of Desmodium elegans or some other species.

Desmodium multiflorum What is the confusion about leaf size? Leaf size looks smaller? I did not take the measurement! This appears to be Ok for Desmodium multiflorum DC.
