Spermacoce alata is a species of plants in the Rubiaceae.[2] It is widespread across the warmer parts of the Western Hemisphere and naturalized in many other parts of the world.
Spermacoce alata is a perennial herb, sometimes erect but other times decumbent. Stems are square in cross-section, with wings along the corners running lengthwise along the stem. Leaves are elliptical to oblong, up to 8 cm long. Flowers are white to very pale purple, formed in axillary clumps.[3]

I think it is Spermacoce ocymoides (Rubiaceae), because it is an erect herb, leaves decussate, corolla white. It is very common in scrub forest, waterlands and layer of soil by rocks.
Syn: Borreria latifolia (Aubl.) K. Schum.; Borreria eradii Ravi
Baburaj et al. 2001 done a work on Spermacoce latifolia Aubl. but I don’t know the paper name.

and updates on POWO, this plant should be Spermacoce latifolia Aubl., as originally considered by Dinesh. Spermacoce alata is a different plant, not found in India.
I tried to find through my posts – as to how I deflected from latifolia to alata, but I could not find it.
I will revise my notes shortly.
Please have a look at the links and suggest !
https://efloraofindia.com/2012/08/20/spermacoce-latifolia/
I had forgotten to add in my post that all plants on eFI, listed under Spermacoce alata, should logically be taken as Spermacoce latifolia, as S. alata is restricted to South America but S. latifolia is naturalized in Tropical Asia and Africa.
May I have your opinion on the following links from the GBIF ?
https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/2598659804
I think all these links are still following the old belief that there are not two, but a single species called Spermacoce alata, with S. latifolia as a synonym. Infact Flora of China still has that. But in the light of the paper that I sent, and the present status in POWO, these two are distinct species.
Yes, I guess all yo be revised including images on google.
Actually, did not find a single image of the real S. alata.
