Ornamental Tree for ID : Pune : 171212 : AK-1:
Saw this cultivated, ornamental tree in Pune, Maharashtra.
Name given by the gardener was Indian Christmas Tree. I could not find anything with this name on searching.
Id please.

Terminalia mantaly

Theses trees can be found planted on Road dividers on main street going towards Hadapsar Pune.. I also found these trees planted in “Arrivals” section of International Airport Mumbai. They have grown beautifully. .

Terminalia mantaly seen at Dombivali.
These are also planted in the Mumbai airport premises new as well as old.
Also on road dividers on Pune Hadapsar road in Pune city Mah.
Non native.

I seem to have seen this tree growing wild along hanging bridge near Sahastralingam, Karnatak. However, needs confirmation.

Tree for Id pl.There was a huge canopy of these trees in a Resort which was giving cool shade. I couldn’t take photos from top angle.

But Terminalia mantaly leaves look very different.

I think matches with images at Terminalia neotaliala (Cultivated)

Images of T.mentaly and T.neotaliala are very confusing on Google. In some of the images, it’s given under the same name. I am confused.
