Nature Rambles:
I am very happy to announce that I have finished authoring a book called ‘Nature Rambles‘ which showcases urban biodiversity. The book was released yesterday (8th February, 2012) by Prof. MS Swaminathan at the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai. The first copy of the book was handed to Mr. N. Ram, Director, Kasturi & Sons Limited (Publishers of the Hindu). Ms. Tara Gandhi, naturalist and student of Dr. Salim Ali has written the foreword to the book.
It is a book containing photographs, species information and anecdotal accounts of 200 common animal and plant species found in and around Chennai. Common butterflies and other insects, birds, flowering plants and trees, all find a place in this beautifully brought out book. The book has more than 200 colour photographs and is printed entirely on art paper.
The book is an attempt to kindle the interest of children, budding biologists and interested amateurs in the fascinating world of nature.
