Sub: Third Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC 2014), 18-20 December 2014, Chennai – First Circular – reg.

As you are aware, Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC) is the largest biennial get together of scientists, conservationists, environmentalists, civil society groups and local communities concerned with biodiversity in India. We thank you for your support during the last two IBCs scheduled at Thiruvananthapuram (2010) and Bangalore (2012) respectively. 

The Third Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC 2014) is scheduled at Chennai during 18-20 December 2014 under the joint auspices of Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre (CPREEC) and Navdanya.  The activities planned in connection with the IBC include a National Seminar with participation of over 1,000 delegates, Exhibition showcasing the cultural biodiversity of India, Photography Competition, Civil Society Meet, Documentary Film Festival, and Children’s Biodiversity Conclave. 

A brochure of the programme is attached for your kind perusal. The focal theme of IBC Seminar is “Biodiversity for Poverty Eradication” and there are 9 other subthemes where the participants can present papers. For details of registration and submission of papers, kindly visit our website

On behalf of the organising committee, we are delighted to invite you to join us at the 3rd Indian Biodiversity Congress 2014, which is scheduled at SRM University, Kattankulathur campus, Chennai during 17-20 December 2014.

The Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC) is the largest get together of scientists, conservationists, environmentalists and civil society groups in India. The Indian Biodiversity Expo (IBE), to be held in conjunction with IBC 2014, is an attempt to bring together the government and nongovernment organisations,  community groups to showcase the rich heritage, wisdom in relation to the biodiversity of India. This event will feature seminars, national photography exhibition, civil society meet, documentary film festival and children’s biodiversity conclave, besides a series of events.

Abstracts may be submitted under nine thematic areas for oral presentations. The last date for abstract submission has been extended until the 25th of November 2014. The abstract may be sent to the email of IBC secretariat ( m). For more details, you may visit
