12 December 2014 Should be Ficus palmata (Wild Fig– Jangli Anjir) or if grafted as per fruit shown in additional attachment, it could be Ficus carica (Anjir) Thank you … I took the leaf and the fruit from the same tree for a closer look. It must be Ficus palmata You assume clear. This plant belong to genus Ficus, the name of plant is Ficus palmata ssp. virgata. The photographs are confirmed as Ficus palmata Forssk. subsp. virgata (Roxb.) Browicz Jungli Goolar – indiantreepix | Google Groups : 4 images.
Here is a variety of Goolar/ Umber i.e Ficus Racemosa. Definitely it will have its own scientific name but locally it is known as Jungali Goolar. The leaves are very rough and wooly underneath. The tree is more like a large shrub. The only speicman that I’ve seen is 8 to 10 feet high. The figs grow on the twigs and not on the trunk like goolar, and yet it is called Jungli Goolar.
Please help ascertain its identity.

F. palmata I was also thinking it to be palmata, but when I compared it with the pic in flowersofindia.net, the leaf base there is prominently cordate, here is it not so… This could be a cultivar of the Edible Fig [Ficus carica] possibly Ficus carica var. rupestris. Ficus palmata in Kashmir, often self sown and found less commonly in Kashmir, though more common in Delhi, Jammu & Punjab. Interestingly the leaves are mostly unlobed in majority of specimens I have seen in our areas, that is the strange irony of plant naming. Photgraphed from Balgarden, Srinagar on June 17, 2010. This is Ficus palmata indeed, but I imagine what is palmate in it to be called so!! I had a discussion on this plant recently with … on the same issue. Could reach to any conclusion.
