Rar. 215 ; leaves pinnate-nerved ovate acute, capsule short subcampanulate glabrous crowned by a prominent white margin, seeds with raised points and the raphe moderately excurrent on one side towards its top. Triana in Trans. Linn. Soc. xxviii. 77. S. Rheedii, Wall. Cat. 4096 ; W. & A. Prodr. 321. S. acaulis, Beddome in Trans. Linn. Soc. xxv. 216.

Leaves from 1/2 to 5 in. often broad or cordate at the base sometimes acute, minutely denticulate or entire, usually puberulous and also with a few scattered hairs ; petiole 0-2.1/2 in. Peduncle 1-8 in. ; flowers 3-17, crowded, subumbelled ; pedicels glabrous. Petals 1/4 in., elliptic, acute, mauve. Anthers not greatly elongate. Capsule 1/16-1/10 in. exclusive of the margin, shorter than the pedicel.

Thank you sir. The only thing I thought differentiated this from Sonerila scapigera was the presence of hair on the leaves whereas S. scapigera should have glabrous leaves.

The photograph you have sent is confirmed as Sonerila wallichii  which is distributed in the Western Ghats fall in the districts of Chikamagalur, Udippi, Shimoga, Dhakshina Kannada  etc.  It is rarely distributed in Kudajadhri hills, Where the deity is located around 1000 m  ASL.

Sonerila primuloides is the call from me


I could not find on net that Sonerila primuloides is found in India.
Pl. assist.

For me it appears like images of Sonerila wallichii Benn.

Looks like a Sonerila sp. (Melastomataceae).
