Aquatic herb for id from Chamoli, UK : 6 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (1)

Please suggest the id  for this herb, was growing in a rain-fed pond
in Chamoli, at the altitude of 2800m asl.


Please check for Callitriche species (Plantaginaceae, earlier in Callitrichaceae or Halorrhagidaceae).
Two species are known in Uttarakhand- C. stagnalis and C.palustris (both are mentioned in Flora of Chamoli vol-1, Naithani 1984).
The genus is not represented in eFI.

Now, It is close to Callitriche palustris L. (Plantaginaceae).


However as per http://www.pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Callitriche+palustris, it appears like Callitriche palustris L.


As per Fl. Chamoli Vol. 1: 232.
a. Margin of fruit winged, acute………….. Callitriche stagnalis Scop.
b. Margin of fruit not winged, obtuse………Callitriche palustris L.
The, said species fit into second condition (b).
