MS Feb.,2018/07 Asystasia sp.? for ID : 5 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (2)
Location : Tamdil, Mizoram
Date : 23-02-2018

Habit :  Undershrub
Hahitat : Wild

Does appear to be somewhat near..

I think closer to your images at Phlogacanthus quadrangularis (Hook.) Heine

The leaf characters suggest it to be Phlogacanthus in my opinion.

But I have not come across the spp and do not have literature containing the key to this spp..so have to end at that

Location : Dampui forest near Mamit
Altitude : ca 950 m.
Date : 02-03-2016
Habit : Small shrub
Habitat : Wild, growing in the primary forest

I think you posted it earlier, about an year back.

Is it not the same as Phlogacanthus quadrangularis as identified by … in another thread: MS March/16/04 Phlogacanthus sp. for ID/Confirmation ?

I have doubts about this species as Aystasia sp., because out of two recorded species A. neesiana and A. pusilla in Mizoram none of these resembles to attached images, as in A. neesiana having a pink corolla it has long tube for more than 4cm and has distinct long tubular floral morphology.
This should be a Phlogacanthus species and most probably P. quadrangularis as per flower morphology.

Does not seem to match with any species from comparative images of Asystasia in efi

I think it is the same as your earlier post: Phlogacanthus species- Dampui, Mizoram

This looks more like a Strobilanthes or Perilepta. Not sure, though.

Does not seem to match with any species from comparative images of Strobilanthes in efi – from me

Sir, did you check for asystasia neesiana which now is asystasiella neesiana?

Thanks, … But the images in Google search look different.
Here is an illustration:

The specimen photo does not show us all details as in the Chinese illustration. Of course the corolla tube seems longer which in the photo is obscured. The plant collector must probe further with literature and specimens, or can send sample herbarium to BSI for identity. Google images are not reliable source to identify.

Sir, I’m attaching herewith another images of Asystasia sp.for re-checking or confirmation
