To me 2nd image looks to be of some other plant. Pl. check. you are right. These photographs look like Lepisanthes senegalensis, syn. Aphania danura. Images are of the same plant. There is no doubt about that. Your observation is noted.. MS May, 2018/06 Shrub/Small tree for ID : 4 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (5) Date : 01-05-2018

Seems to be some species of Lepisanthes. Lepisanthes senegalensis (Mizo name: Zu-tul) I think Location : Dampui, Mizoram Lepisanthes species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net) Lepisanthes senegalensis ? Please compare it with Lepisanthes rubiginosa (Roxb.) Leenh. – the iconotype is Roxb., Pl. Coromandel, 1: t. 62. 1796. I did not see this specimen previously. So, I don’t know the name of this specimen. Sorry about it. I think, this specimen is not belongs to the family Sapindaceae. I think it should be Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh. as per comparative images at Lepisanthes Fwd: IDENTITY OF A PLANT : 10 posts by 1 author. Attachments (1) Thanks, … Flowers are not clear.
May I request you to pl. post some image where flowers are clear.
We will have to wait for the next season. Its a species of lepisanthes (sapindaceae) Pl. check species available in efi site at Thanks, …, for the genus id.
Closest I can go is Lepisanthes rubiginosa as per comparative images at Lepisanthes
I think this may be Aphania rubra (Sapindaceae). In Lepisanthes rubiginosa, the fruit are look like this but the leaf and the flower is different from this plant. Is it possible to get the plant specimen with some flowers and fruit?
But according to The Plant List Aphania genus is now treated under Lepisanthes and Allophyllus. Aphania rubra currently is a synonym of Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh.
Can you post a better image of the flowers ?
This is not the time for flowering for the plant. We will have to wait for next year. I don’t have better image.
I think it should be Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh. as per comparative images at Lepisanthes
. Attached images are tree sp. from Assam. Pl. Id of the sp. NBot Santalum album, is it ? In Santalum album number of tepals are four where as in my specimen number is five. Moreover, there is a difference in stamen morphology also. So, it may not be the Santalum album. Yes I guessed so. Not Santalum album Very interesting upload, not confident, but can we compare it with Lepisanthes fruticosa?… I think this is Lepisanthes sp. Sapindaceae Yes, It is Lepisanthes sp. L. erecta, L. senegalensis and L. tetraphyla are three spp. reported from Assam. Thanks, … I think it should be Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh. as per comparative images at Lepisanthes .
Could you help to identify this species?
It’s a tall tree up to 20 m. very lear bole (at least in my observation).
Lowland Nepal, 100 m asl. Eastern Nepal. Picture Taken 20 March 2020.
Not the Santalum album, is it ? Any habit image? Here is the small one, it flowers even in smaller individuals. Attachments (1) – 6 mb.
To me this image looks different from previous images. Thank you. They are from different individuals. Locals confirm they are the same species and called as ‘Surile’. Lepisanthes rubiginosa, Sapindaceae Thanks …! I think the characters do not match with the species. I hope we will nail it. I think more closer to Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh. rather than Lepisanthes rubiginosa (Roxb.) Leenh. as per comparative images at Lepisanthes Yes, L. senegalensis. Extremely variable. Some authors consider both as synonyms. I guess you are right … IDENTITY : 24: A google search for “Lindera fruits” or “Benzoin fruits” gives similar looking fruit images. Another search for “Micromelum fruits” (… post) also shows similar fruits. Could it be a species of Lepisanthes, as in efi site ? Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh. ?? Yes, Sir, I think it’s a probability. OK ! ID No.30072011 _ Shrub for ID: Rubiaceae ? I guess same sp. was posted earlier also by some member! this is not rubiaceae family plant I think Lepisanthes senegalensis (Poir.) Leenh. as per images and details herein. Attached images are unknown sp, from Assam. Please ID the sp.
