This herb was found growing in a nursery pot at Panipat. Please help me identify. Looks like an Acanthaceae member. Can it be any Ruellia?

Dipteracanthus species, perhaps.

This can be Ruellia peninsularis

Was waiting to know the ID.

Many Ruelia species are used in garden it seems.

Thanks … for the likely ID. It looks like same.

ACANTHACEAE FORTNIGHT:: Ruellia peninsularis from Panipat:: NS MARCH 38/38 : 7 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (5)

A profusely flowering, delicate herb, grown as ornamental.. sharing the pics from I.B. College, Panipat..

Ruellia peninsularis, if the id is right..

ID may not be correct. As per my search goes – one book informs Ruellia peninsularis IRose) I.M.Johnst differs from R. californica (Rose) I.M. Johnst. by its glabrous and glutinous (against glandular puberulent leaves) nature.

I do not know if it can be some other as well.

Thanks, … But … plant seems to match with other sites like:

It must be so …, when you and … think so. You wanted my view… I gave mine

Can someone help me in identifying this plant.

Ruellia sp., may be Ruellia squarrosa …

Did you check with Ruellia squarrosa as suggested by …

Yes Sir, I received on 16 April. It was very useful. I would thank him again.

I think close to images at Ruellia peninsularis (Rose) I.M. Johnst. as per comparative images at Ruellia

But the reddish stem of R.peninsularis is not seen here, Sir.

Dattaji Salvi Udyan  Thane

Date: May 10, 2018 … Altitude: about 11 m (36 feet) asl
Ruellia humilis  Nutt.

I think similar plant has been identified as Ruellia peninsularis (Rose) I.M. Johnst. in efi site.
Pl. check.

Thanks … I visited the Ruellia peninsularis (Rose) I.M. Johnst. page. I read through posts listed there as of today.

None of them have been concluded confidently.
Image search on internet, gives mixed results – flower images labelled humilis as well as peninsularis seem to match the posted flower. Also to heighten confusion, searching only through humilis OR peninsularis do not yield consistent looking flowers.

Will wait for comments from garden enthusiasts.

Ruellia longepetiolata as per details and discussions herein.

Thank you very much … Labelled accordingly in Flickr.

I have also taken pictures of the same when I was at the same place with … Still unresolved.

Are the flowers pedicellate? Please also check Ruellia nudiflora (Engelm. & A. Gray) Urb.

Some similar looking flowers I found on Google Images.

Ruellia humilis ‘Blue Shade’.
Ruellia caroliniensis, Carolina Wild Petunia.
Ruellia squarrosa, Water Bluebell.
These are all ‘just a guess’ from me.
