SK 3900 24 November 2023 – Zingiberaceae: 5 very high res. images.
Habitat : Wild
I think it is different from Z. roseaum according to the elevation range and leaves pattern.
Maybe … can through some light, if it is identifiable.
It is difficult to come to a conclusion because many species like Z. roseum, Z. rubens, Z. arunachalensis, Z. cernuum, Z. nimmonii, Z. companulatum, Z. cornigerum etc have almost similar type of fruits. Wait for the flowers to come.
By the way, which are the sps. matching to the elevation of the above sp., i.e. around 2000m.
I shot some images today but did not find big chunks of rhizome, rather roots only with some developing underground shoots.
The Zingiber spp. with slender, stoloniferous and branched rhizomes belong to Z. caudatum (Imphal, Manipur), Z. cornigerum (Dibang valley, Arunachal Pradesh), Z. flavofusiforme ( this has terminal inflorescence; Assam & Meghalaya) and Z. roseum ( this plant is reported from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Arunachal
Does not look like a match with any . Need to wait for the flower.
