Lofty trees, up to 50 m tall; bark grey. Leaves compound, paripinnate, ca. 20-40 cm long, alternate; rachis winged; petioles ca. 5-20 cm long; leaflets 8-14 pairs, alternate or opposite, lamina ca. 6-20 x 3-8 cm, ovate-lanceolate or ovate, oblique, cuneate at base, acuminate at apex, entire-sinnate along margins, glabrous; secondary nerves 10-12 pairs. Inflorescences in long panicles ca. 30-40 cm long; pedicels ca. 5 mm long; calyx irregularly lobed; lobes 3-angular, pubescent; petals ca. 4 mm long, densely hairy along margins and laxly hairy outside in male flowers; anthers ca. 2 mm long in male flowers; ovary hairy; styles 5, connate; stigma spreading. Samaras ca. 10-13 x 3-4 cm, light brown, apically twisted, rounded along outer margin, straight along inner margin. Seeds ca. 1.5 cm across, flat.

Global Distribution: India, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia (Java).
Indian Distribution: West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya.

Ailanthus altissima, A. excelsa and A. integrifolia Lam. subsp. calycina (Pierre) Noot are three spp. found in Assam [According to Assam’s Flora(2005) & Plantes Assam(2021) by Prof. S. Chowdhury). Ailanthus excelsa & Ailanthus integrifolia Lam. subsp. calycina (Assamese name, Bor-Pat) are only two species reported from Assam[ according to Flowering Plants of India – An Annotated Checklist, Dicot-I, Vol I, Page No. 236(D.D. Pramanick, S.S.Dash & V.K. Mastakar (2020) BSI]. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal are eight the Indian states from where Ailanthus integrifolia Lam. subsp. calycina is reported according Checklist of Flowering plants, BSI( D.D. Pramanick, S.S.Dash & V.K. Mastakar (2020)). According to D.D. Pramanick, S.S.Dash & V.K. Mastakar (2020) [Checklist of Flowering plants, BSI ] and S.
