Agave, Century plant • Hindi: Kamal cactus कमल कैक्टस , Gwarpatha ग्वारपाठा • Manipuri: Kewa • Telugu: Kalabanda • Kannada: Kantala • Sanskrit: Kantala;
.

Requesting to please ID this plant captured in Sagar Upvan, Mumbai in October 2013.
It had beautiful designs on its leaves.

Perhaps Agave weberii

Thank you … for ID, waiting for other inputs… Someone had suggested Yucca gloriosa

Looks like Agave species for me.

I agree with … It looks like agave o.

Agave americana L.

I think – it is Agave vera-cruz, because :-

  1. marginal prickles conspicuous, straight and with dark coloured tips.
  2. in americana (1) leaves are constricted aove the base ( neck region) (2) prickles are strong
  3. in cantula prickles are falcate

Sorry,it is Agave americana, the 3rd picture shows sinuate margin, typical of americana; which I missed.

Furcrea sp, may be foetida.

Thank you … ! Furcraea foetida (L.) Haw.

As prickles appears to be longer, it should be Agave americana L. as per keys and comparative images at Agave.

Mettur Salem Tamilnadu
Kindly identify the species

A. americana,

I think this will also be Agave vivipara L. (syn: Agave cantula Roxb.) as identified by … in other other two threads herein.

On further consideration, I think it is Agave americana only.

Sir, the 3rd picture shows crenate or sinuate margin in young leaves, besides leaf blade colour is unpolished marble or stone like, leaves are rigid except two or three at base. Also leaf lade is significantly broad at the middle and above. I would go for A. americana.

Oh! yes Sir, certainly, I agree with you.

Yes, it’s Agave americana

Agave americana: 1 high res. image.
Location: Rajouri (j and k)

Yes it’s

I think it is more likely to be Agave angustifolia Haw. as per images and details herein and as per keys and comparative images at Agave.

What do you say about this one? Is the id correct as Agave angustifolia Haw. ?

Strong and sharp apical spine, clearly visible at the top left of the plate, considerably thick leaf base, crenate (situate) margins in young leaves, I would suggest Agave americana L.
Is this specimen wild?
