Vicoa cernua (Syn: Pentanema cernuum), as per discussion at https://groups.google.com/g/indiantreepix/c/NJ

I am yet not clear as per the
https://www.biotaxa.org/Phytotaxa/article/view/phytotaxa.514.3.7 as it only gives summary.

Can we see the full paper?

I do not have access to paper.
I went with Tabish’s ID because I was familiar with the plant as Pentanema cernuum (Dalzell) Ling … now considered as synonym of Vicoa cernua Dalzell
I think some paper recently published may have led to inadvertent change in ID.

Now the ID is restored.

Yes. Vicoa cernua Dalz. as per https://efloraofindia.com/efi/vicoa-cernua/

Rajgad, Dec 2014 :: Requesting ID – Senecio (?) :: ARKFEB-03/03 : 6 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (7)
Please ID these yellow flowers captured at Rajgad near Pune in Dec 2014.
Are they Senecio edgworthii?

efi page on Senecio edgeworthii

Pentanema cernuum (Dalzell) Ling

Interesting observations …
Often these plants are neglected assuming to be Senecio.
Thanks … for the ID
The leaves here definitely look different which must be the differentiating character from the common Pentanema indicum

True, I observed these flowers as different only because at a particular place, they stood beside S. bombayensis and looked completely different.
Else I would have assumed them to be some Senecio
For a layperson, the Senecios and the like are very difficult to identify/differentiate.

Vicoa gokhalei : 1 attachment.
The flower images posted as Pentanema cernuum (which is now Vicoa cernua) by Dinesh ValkeNeha Singh and Alka Khare should actually be of a newly described species Vicoa gokhalei Gosavi, Madhav, Chandore & S.R.Yadav
I am attaching a page from the 2020 paper describing the species. Vicoa cernua has very small ray-florets. The flowers with long ray-florets should be of Vicoa gokhalei

Thank you very much … for leading to this ID, and for the literature.

The flower images mentioned in my post forwarded below, should be of Vicoa cernua (Syn: Pentanema cernuum) only, as per the following paper

As per this paper, Vicoa gokhalei is a synonym of Vicoa cernua. The species which the authors, describing Vicoa gokhale, considered to be Vicoa cernua (the one with virtually invisible ray florets) is now described as a new species Vico sahyadrica.

We have to see the publication before making any final decision.

I had mailed you the paper long back – it appears you have not received it, strangely. I am attaching it here

.

Posted by Dinesh Valke in 2013, Neha Singh in 2011 and Alka Khare in 2015 and identified as Pentanema cernuum have been published now as
Vicoa gokhalei in 2020, as per details herein.
This again highlights the treasure trove present in efloraofindia, yet to be discovered.

Yes …, very true

Yes … In fact I had seen this plant in the year 2007 at Vasota fort in Maharashtra.

Very nice dear … !! Matter of pride !!
If possible, you may add your picture(s) of the plant to eFI for sake of records.
