Himalaya to Central & S. China and Myanmar: Assam, China North-Central, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Myanmar, Nepal, West Himalaya as per POWO;
Similar to P. cornuta but a larger tree up to 20m; leaves narrowly elliptic-lanceolate 6-18 x 1.5-5cm, lateral vein axils without tufts of hair beneath; petioles 0.5-1cm bearing a pair of glands at apex or on margin of lamina at its base; racemes leafy at base, 15-25cm, rachis and calyx cups pubescent; calyx lobes eglandular; petals obovate, 4-5mm; drupes ovoid 1.3-1.5 x 1-1.3cm.
