Plant for ID-111210MN: – This should be Alpinia calcarata. Elettaria has lateral inflorescences that arise from near the ground, not on leafy shoot. I am attaching the photograph received from Chennai for ID. Photograph taken last week (May 5th). For me it looks like Alpinia calcarata. Please confirm/ suggest the ID. Unable to get habit photo from the sender inspite of my request.. Therefore, only one photograph available for ID. It seems to be Elettaria cardamomum. Looks like net images are confusing. Someone told me that it is a ELACH (cardamom) plant. Around 3 to 4 ft tall, a tufted kind of plant, leaves are about 2 ft long. Is it Elettaria cardamomum (L.)
