Breynia patens (Roxb.) Benth. & Hook.f. Phyllanthus patens Roxb. Please confirm the id. Collected from: Tirunelveli dt., TN. Excellent attempt of presenting posts, … They look good. Thank you so much … The entire credit goes to you, my Guru!
Yes, it is a tentative ID. I am looking forward to also hear from …
It is correctly pointed out that the fruiting calyx is not enlarged enough to call it Breynia retusa. The only alternative left is B. vitis-idaea which it is not. Hence I am giving it benefit of doubt and calling it B. retusa, and the variation in size may be an individual variation. I have no intention of calling it a distinct entity, rather it is intermediate between the two above mentioned species. Thank you very much … for sorting the doubt. Breynia retusa – efloraofindia | Google Groups Botanical name: Breynia lanceolata (Hook.f.) Welzen & Pruesapan. Basionym: Sauropus lanceolatus Hook.f. Synonym: Sauropus rhamnoides Blume.
Photographer: Dr. Santanu Dey.
Location: Nagaland, India. Habit: Shrubs or small trees, sometimes scandent or climing.
Habitat: In inland forests or edges of primary forests at low altitudes.
Distribution: India (Nicobar Islands, North-eastern India), Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Lesser Sunda Islands.
After examining the type of Breynia lanceolata as well as Sauropus rhamnoides, I now feel that this is a misidentification. This should be the common species Breynia retusa. Is this Breynia used in Homeopathy? Hello everyone: 3 images.
I would be very grateful if you could help me identify this species. Taken at open forest In Mizoram.
I know its a Breynia sp, but I could not make out the species. Welcome dear, excellent photography, looks unique, not any species represented on Flowers of India. Hope some member finds a correct ID. I guess this should be Breynia retusa (Dennst.) Alston only ! You can try Breynia gynophora. Looks different from GBIF specimens of Breynia gynophora. That was my guess … ! . . Regarding identification of the species collected from Dhenkanal Odisha: 4 high res. images. Breynia retusa (Dennst.) Alston ! Yes, as per images at .
