Looks like Clerodendrum Species.
Could be Arni, Clerodendrum phlomidis?

I guess correct ID.

I too agree with ma’am,

Yes it is. Entire leaf margin seen here  is a common variation.

Flower for id pl. Which species of Clerodendron ?
Location – Hatnur (North Maharashtra)
Date – January 2020

Looks like Arni, Clerodendrum phlomidis to me.

I am also with same opinion but feel slight different.

Yes it’s C. phlomoides,

Thanks … …, Is रानजाई the same flower ?

For रानजाई, I found Clematis heynei

I agree with … the name रानजाई or रान जाई is given to Clematis heynei / C. triloba, though they are far from jasmine family.

Jasminum malabaricum is also known as रानजाई.
We cannot rule out the tendency of local folks calling any wild dainty white fragrant flowers as रानजाई
Clerodendrum phlomidis is अरणी or टाकळी

Thanks … Yes, local names are always confusing but still closer to the heart.

It is Clerodendrum only, not clematis; reasons: Clematis has free petals, stamens more; here the flower is gamopetalous, clearly 4 exserted stamens, slightly bilobed corolla and 4 lobed fruit in a cup like calyx it is Clerodendrum species, close to Clerodendrum phlomidis.

Yes …, the posted plant is indeed Clerodendrum sp.

I discussed about the Marathi name रानजाई – it is known to refer Clematis sp. and Jasminum sp. rather than Clerodendrum sp. But some local folks may call Clerodendrum sp. as रानजाई ranjai, as the flowers has scent similar to jasmine.

Yes … I was sure about Clerodendron but unsure about the species and it’s local name.
