It is my pleasure to present few images of Lepidagathis pungens (Acanthaceae)

2. The india biodiversity portal lists L.pungens as a synonym of L.barberi with an image that I am convinced that it is L.pungens

3. The Digital Flora of Karnataka lists L.barberi but does not give any detail…!

4.The Plantlist says L.pungens is an unresolved name…!!!

Habit: Herb 

Habitat: Wild, Semi-evergreen forest 

Sighting: Mallandur, Chikmagalur, Karnataka, about 1300 msl 

Date: 29-01-2015

From the comparative images of species in efi at Lepidagathis, it does not match with any species including Lepidagathis pungens 

L. barberi Gamble is accepted species as per Lepidagathis & different from Lepidagathis pungens 

Considering  the leaves and other characters it looks L. pungens only.

Looks like some Acanthus sp. 

I think … is right. It seems to match with images at Acanthus spinosus L.

Can you check with local flora as Acanthus spinosus L. is not mentioned as either cultivated or wild in Karthikeyan et al. (2009) as per details at ‎Acanthus ?

Habit: Abrasive herb
The plant was found growing near the forest side paths. It has a characteristic inflorescence.
Neyyar WLS, Agasthyamalai biosphere reserve.
