Have pasted the key to both the species along with some additional notes from the paper by Shendage & Yadav (who have examined B. mysorensis from near Rishi Valley) herewith:
Plants glandular-hairy; flowers pedicelled, pink; outer sepals linear-lanceolate, entire, twice longer than inner ones. – B. mysorensis
Plants not glandular-hairy; flowers sessile, white or sky blue; outer sepals broadly ovate, dentate, four times longer than inner ones. – B. buxifolia
Barleria mysorensis “closely resembles B. buxifolia but differs in entire plant being glandular-hairy; flowers pedicellate and pink; outer sepals ovate-oblong and inner sepals slightly smaller than outer ones. Flowers open between 7 and 9 am and remain till the next day.”
Can any one help? Probably Barleria sp. but need confirmation.
From the leaves it looks like the pink form of Barleria repens, which is commonly red. Can’t be too sure though. The plant was identified as Barleria mysorensis by … Barleria mysorensis: 1 correct image as above.
I may be troubling everybody with these photos. If possible i need identification for few photos I took some 10 to 15 years earlier.

Barleria mysorensis. The flower with six corolla lobes [Plant 2a.jpg] appears to be an aberration.
There are some important notes on the identification of this plant in the paper “Revision of the Genus Barleria (Acanthaceae) in India” by SM Shendage and SR Yadav, Rheedea, Vol. 20 (2), p. 81-130, 2010.
It is Barleria buxifolia Linn. a very common plant along roadsides in dry hilly areas Thanks for all the info reg the Barleria id.
I checked my other pics and the flower is pink (B. mysorensis) and not white/sky blue of B. buxifolia. I also read the link sent by … & page 91 line drawings matches with my pics with longish thorns on the plant.

Acanthaceae week MS 060611 -34 .: I photographed this plant during the month of May. A wild plant which comes up even in burnt sites. A hardy small shrub with long spines and beautiful flowers. I have not checked the details in the flora for its identity yet. I guess it could be a species of Barleria **( Barleria buxifolia L. var. mysorensis or B.mysorensis). ID requested. Due to some camera problems I could not get the close ups or better photographs. I think it should be Barleria mysorensis B.Heyne ex Roth only.

Kindly identify this spiny bush with pink flowers photographed at the Arunachala Reserve Forest, Tiruvannamalei, Tamil Nadu in September 2014.
Flowers about 3 cm wide. White spines in pairs, about 1-2 cm long each. Barleria buxifolia. I think it should be Barleria mysorensis B.Heyne ex Roth rather than Barleria buxifolia L. as per images and details herein. For me the ID by … is correct. Of course the ID is always confusing.
