Came across this herb in the forest of Cherapunjee, Meghalaya (November-2008). These are the only photographs i have. Please excuse me for not putting the info in the format as i do not have much info. Any chance for Phaulopsis imbricata..? Phaulopsis dorsiflora as per Phaulopsis
12 inches herb ID from Hooghly 23-04-12 SK-2: Attaching images of a small herb that i found in a waste place.
Species : UNKNOWN
Habit & Habitat : wild herb, about one foot, uncultivated land, wasteplace
Date : 02-02-2012, 9.55 a.m.
Place : Hooghly, WB Extermely tiny Wild Flower for ID – 221011 – RK: V. tiny flower – about 4mm – almost escaped my eyes!
Could find only this single one in the lawns. Pic taken in Thattekkad,Kerala on 09-12-09 at 2pm.

Alt.: 1550 m asl I found this plant to be Phaulopsis imbricata (Forssk.) Sweet of Acanthaceae.
Its distribution is from Africa to SE Asia at altitudes of 500 – 1000 m asl.

Minute white flowers growing out of a hairy inflorescence which is itself not more than 2 cm long. leaves opposite also hairy. height of plant about 10 cm. growing in the midst of dense undergrowth.

Looks like some Acanthaceae sp. I had seen this in Chikmaglur region (Karnataka) near Village Mahal. Perhaps Tetramerium This is Paulopsis imbricata (Forsk.) Sweet (= Ruellia imbricata Forsk.), it is a prostrate herb, I am able to see this plant near Bahamandala (Medikere), Karnataka Yes this is Paulopsis imbricata. I have also seen this in Kolli hills of Tamil Nadu Phaulopsis dorsiflora as per Phaulopsis

I have two earlier threads of the same plant. First identified by … – efi thread 1 and again second time myself – efi thread 2.
This is a two to three ft herb, hard to give you actual size, since it’s a weed those are cleared regularly. You can view stat in my earlier uploads in the 2nd thread above. At least one book informs the species is present in lower Ganga delta. I too would like to know the difference between Phaulopsis imbricata and Phaulopsis dorsiflora. Apparently in a monograph by Mariette Manktelow (1996), it is listed that Phaulopsis imbricata does not occur in India and Phaulopsis dorsiflora is the one we find growing here.
This was told to me by … Unfortunately I do not have any actual facts to back this up as the monograph does not provide a preview of any part and the book is unavailable for purchase.
