This is probably Sanchezia nobilis. Needs further confirmation.


Yes I agree with … A fairly common garden plant most of us must have seen. Never made an attempt to explore it further.
Sanchezia are small trees or shrubs originating from central and south America.

I remember observing this as ornamental but didn’t know the name.
Sanchezia nobilis is from Family Acanthaceae
Cultivated as ornamental due to its beautiful colourful bracts, flowers and sometimes leaves too.

Acanthaceae Week- sanchezia Sp. for ID- PKA2: Came across this shrub in Mizoram.

Could this be  “Sanchezia Parvibracteata“?

Its Sanchezia nobilis a popular tropical yellow and green foliage plant. i have yet to see flowers on one in Kolkata
google shows some flowers in the image gallery and toptropicals shows it nicely

In my photo flowers are not open. So I happened to match it with photos on net. My identification is a guess. I am open and accept correction. Recently I have seen Sanchezia plant where flowers are open.
