Could it be Strobilanthes ixiocephalus … syn. Thelepaepale ixiocephala ?

Leaves look a bit different from images at Strobilanthes ixiocephala 

This should be Strobilanthes neoasper

Strobilanthes neoasper, Eravikulam WLS First week of October 2018
Unfortunately because of the oncoming cyclone and heavy rainfall at that time, most of the flowers fell and the new buds had yet to flower as they need a few days of sunshine to do so.

i am glad you persisted in taking pictures. i got to see them 
i am happy i persisted as well as it was quite an adventure. we almost cancelled the trip because of the floods but after speaking to really pleasant forest officer, we postponed the trip to October.
once we reached Munnar, we decided to visit Eravikulam on the first day of the trip which was fortunate for us as Eravikulam WLS was closed 
from the next day due to approaching cyclone.
