UNID Madhya Pradesh Climber: This picture is of a fruit of a climber seen in Madhya Pradesh in Sidhi
District near Rewa. I observed during the first week of April. Though, it looks familiar I am not able to remember the name of this plant. Would be glad if anyone can help me ID this one. Most of the part of the climber was leafless. the fruits where basket shaped, the seeds were papery brown in Colour.

– Aristolochia indica (in the photo) is found in Madhya Pradesh – in mixed forest as per the flora.

Aristolochia: Several plants of this Aristolochia creeper are growing in our garden at Tala Distt Umariya M.P. . May I request you to please help in ID.

I am not sure but it could be some variety of Aristolochia tagala.

It should be Aristolochia indica

Thank you sirs for the identification. Interesting that while the plant is highly toxic to humans, it forms the essential food of rare butterfly species. By when could one expect seed pods to be ready?

the flower seemed to me to be clearly white and not ‘purple’ as mentioned in the species details of Aristolochia indica. otherwise it does look very much like it. could you recommend whether taking more specific pictures would help, and what i should be looking for?

It is Aristolochia indica, the flower color, leaf base are variable in A.indica.
