Chrysanthemum ×morifolium Ramat., J. Hist. Nat. 2:240, in adnot. 1792 (Syn: (=) Anthemis grandiflora Ramat.; (=) Anthemis stipulacea Moench; (=) Chrysanthemum ×grandiflorum hort.; (=) Chrysanthemum sinense Sabine; (=) Chrysanthemum stipulaceum (Moench) W. Wight; (=) Dendranthema ×grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam.; (≡) Dendranthema ×morifolium (Ramat.) Tzvelev; (=) Matricaria morifolia Ramat.) as per GRIN; chrysanthemum-x-morifolium-bianca from my garden in Ritterhude: Some Fotos of chrysanthemum-x-morifolium-bianca taken on 12.6.2011 in Ritterhude – Maybe a cultivar of Dendranthema grandiflora – If I am not mistaken – It is true that Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat was published by Ramat in 1978. Kitamura in 1978 did not transfer this to genus Dendrathema because, because if he did he had to retain the specific epithet morifolium. It was in fact Tzelev 1961 (in V. L. Komarov, Fl. URSS 26:373) who formed the combination Dendrathema x morifolium (Ramat) Tzelev, 1961. In the same publication Ramat also described Anthemis grandiflora for which Kitamura in 1978 formed the combination Dendranthema x grandiflora (Ramat.) Kitam., 1978.
Now there seems to a little confusion. According to GRIN, a fairly respected database Correct name is Chrysanthemum x morifolium Ramat. and following its synonyms: Anthemis grandiflora Ramat., Anthemis stipulacea Moench, Chrysanthemum sinense Sabine, Chrysanthemum stipulaceum (Moench) W. Wight, Dendranthema ×grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. Dendranthema ×morifolium (Ramat.) Tzvelev, Matricaria morifolia Ramat. However according to new Plant List published by Kew and Missouri Botanical Garden (which is supposed to be fairly authentic), all following are accepted names: Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat (syn: Anthemis grandiflora Ramat.; Matricaria morifolia (Ramat.) Ramat.; Chrysanthemum stipulaceum (Moench) W. Wight, ) Chrysanthemum x grandiflorum Ramat. with no recorded synonyms Dendranthema × grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. with no recorded synonyms (this is strange because basionym has to be the synonym) Dendranthema × morifolium (Ramat.) Tzvelev with Tanacetum morifolium (Ramat.) Kitam as synonym Sincerely there is lot of confusion out there Asteraceae Fortnight Part-1 Chrysanthemum morifolium (NSJ-02 04:05:13) : Attachments (1). 2 posts by 2 authors. Different colors of Chrysanthemum seen in the public gardens of Muscat. I have so many pictures of Chrysanthemums… in different shapes and colors. Can add 25-30 pictures more. . What are the differences between: Sir, it is very difficult to understand, as most of the chrysanthemum varieties do not set seeds. Pl. check the differences between these as per keys in Flora of Pakistan: http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=20523 Thank you for the key. This key leads only to wild plants which develop seeds. In the end only two wild species have been mentioned. In cultivated chrysanthemum, seeds do not develop. So, This will not be helpful id plz : 2 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (1) – 1 MB.

Chrysanthemum × morifolium (Ramat.) Hemsl. (Syn. Dendranthema × grandiflora (Ramat.) Kitam.) & Dendranthema grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. ? What are the differentiating features that separate Chrysanthemum from Dendranthema? Thank you, … I have tried out to find the differences but failed.
The PlantList lists Both:
Chrysanthemum × morifolium (Ramat.) Hemsl. (Syn. Dendranthema × grandiflora (Ramat.) Kitam.) & Dendranthema grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. as accepted species. This is the point of confusion for all. That is why I was searching for differentiating features between 2 genera. Catalogue of Life only lists Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.
I have observed in the past that some sites use × , while others do not use × for the same species i.e. some sites may be using Dendranthema × grandiflora (Ramat.) Kitam. while others may be using Dendranthema grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. for the same species.
But I do not know if it is correct or not.
May I request others to through more light on this aspect.
This Asteraceae sp. was seen planted in a house at Mizoram.
Should be some Chrysanthemum sp. Some cultivar of Chrysanthemum morifolium ? . References:
