Stem reddish-brown, branchlets villous, mixed with gland-tipped hairs. Leaves 5-6.5 x 3-4.5 cm, sessile, elliptic or obovate, apex acute or obtuse, base attenuate, irregularly dentate, lateral nerves 6-8 pairs. Heads 7 mm across, peduncles and phyllaries villous, mixed with gland-tipped hairs; corolla yellow. Achenes ribbed, hairy along the ribs.

Herb ID request – RK62 – 17-Dec-2012:
Request identification of this short herb seen in Tungareshwar. It is around 1 foot tall and is flowering now. The leaves are aromatic. At first I thought of Blumea eriantha which was identified by … in October but the fragrance of this plant’s leaves is distinctly different from that one which smelt of Ajwain / caraway. I get the feeling that plants of the Blumea genus are tricky to identify even with flowers, I would like to know from the experts what exactly to photograph in these herbs so it is possible to identify the species?

Achenes, close up of leaf (both surfaces) and corolla will help.
Was the plant decumbent / prostrate or erect?

It is erect one

Then unlikely to be oxyodonta.

To me appears close to images at Blumea belangeriana DC.

Can this plant be Gynura aurantiaca (Blume) de Candolle in A. P. de Candolle and A. L. P. P. de Candolle, Prodr. 6: 300. 1838. ?
Stems somewhat lax or clambering, branching, fleshy, conspicuously fuzzy-hairy (± velutinous to villous, crosswalls of hairs purplish). Leaves: petioles 0–3+ cm; blades 4–10(–15) × 2–5(–8) cm, margins raggedly toothed, faces ± velutinous to villous, hairs purplish. Heads 1–5. Calyculi: bractlets 3–6+ mm. Phyllaries 10–12+ mm, tips greenish or minutely darkened. Disc corollas yellow or orange to brick-red (drying purplish), 8–12+ mm; style-branch appendages orange, 1–2 mm. Cypselae glabrous; pappi 10–12 mm. 2n = 20.

Does not look like and leaves are not clear.

More likely to be a species of Blumea
