VOF Week: Composite for id from the valley: This was shot from way to the valley…my guess is some Senecio… hope to get id

Flora of Uttarakhand- Herb42 for Id- JM:  Wild Herb captured on 13/8/10 during the trek from Ghangaria (around 11,000 ft.) to Hemkunt Sahib (around 14000 ft.).

I suspect this may be the autumn form of Ainsliaea aptera when flower heads don’t open and produce seeds directly.

possibility of Adenocaulon himalaicum

I hope it is Senecio alatus.

Ainsliaea latifolia (as the petioles are winged. In aptera, the specific epithet suggests wingless form)

Last time i have had already identified it is Synotis alata only

Seen this herb en-route Chodwar Camping Site at GHNP at an altitude of approx 3100m.

Must be a species in Senecio genus.

Senecio– species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available)

it may be Ainsliaea aptera.

Certainly not Ainsliaea aptera.

Yes … it is Synotis alata (=Senecio alatus).

On rechecking, I think it’s not matching with images at Synotis alata
