Thanks … for this important correction. Yes it resembles the uploads by … as S. fastuosa and one uploaded by … and identified by …

S. uniflora is a totally different plant belonging to the subgenus Amphilaena in which upper most leaves are generally coloured and enclosing (half or completely) the capitulum. Here are some links:

Flora of Uttarakhand- Herb68 for Id- JM: Wild Herb captured on 13/8/10 during the trek from Ghangaria (around 11,000 ft.) to Hemkunt Sahib (around 14000 ft.).

This may be Saussurea uniflora.

Yes, It may be Saussurea uniiflora

I am taking it as Saussurea fastuosa in view of the identification of … post in another thread:
Here is yet another Saussurea sp. seen at VoF.

The second Saussurea was this one growing on the mountainside not very easy to access. The light was harsh then and I could not manage better images. Please advise if I am wrong.

I visited the same area the day before yesterday looking for flowering Swertia speciosa (I had seen it on my previous visit but it had not started flowering then!) and decided to check on this Saussurea too. I found it had flourished more and I took some more photos (better light too!) to share.
