Common name: Denison Balsam

India: Common on moist rocks and tree trunks between 1000 to 1600 m altitude. Tamil Nadu and Kerala as per BSI Flora of India;


Acaulescent herbs. Leaves alternate, deeply 2-lobed at base with a broad sinus, ovate-cordate, crenate at margin, 7-8 cm long, pubescent above. Flowers 7-11, in racemes, pink. Spur recurved, long; standard ovate, vaulted; wings 3-lobed, bearded on inner face; basal lobes with dorsal auricle produced into spur. Capsules ellipsoid; seeds minute with spiral hairs.
