Lower leaves opposite, upper in whorls of 3 1. Lower leaves alternate, upper alternate or opposite 2. leaves 10-15 cm long, somewhat lanceolate 2. Leaves 4-10 cm long, mostly ovate 3, margin sharply serrate 3. Margin crenate-denticulate 4. leaf base not decurrent on petiole 4. leaf base decurrent on petiole 5. flowers 5-7 cm across? 5. Flowers 3-5 cm across 6. Lower sepal with spur 7 cm long 6. Lower sepal with spur 5 cm long Impatiens hawkeri has also lower sepal shallowly navicular with thicker spur, whereas I. walleriana almost flat lower sepal and filiform spur. In most cases I. hawkeri has bigger flowers than I. walleriana, however variability of cultivated species is sometimes beyond recognition… As I wrote in my earlier posts, I hawkeri was recently hybridized with some other more heat and sun tolerant taxa, making things worse for botanists. Further to the differentiation between I. walleriana and I. hawkeri, could you also guide us towards further differentiating I. pulcherrima from the earlier 2? I never seen I. pulcherrima by myself… However, I found a picture, where this plant is depicted with greenish horn on the upper petal. Yes ! impatiens hybrid not otherwise classifiable. larger flowers like what i think it is in your picture, … they are descendants from new guinea impatiens like Impatiens hawker. but cant tell, unless leaves and many flowers are studied, strictly. by now the whole world recognizes this humble flower because of hybridizers have made them popular and cheap to grow by the thousands for large lush colorful borders esp in temperate climate summers. interesting link and our own indian nursery trade groups must also be hybridizing them, yet they do no seem to want to publish their results. May be that’s what you have photographed
