An erect shrub about 5-15 ft tall. Stem brownish grey, young branchlets with hairs. Leaves opposite, lanceolate-elliptical, 1-6 x 1-2.5 cm across, sometimes leaves in first pair are variable, which are smaller and ovate, shining, glabrous or hairy above and hairy beneath, mid vein more prominent below, 4-12 lateral veins on either side of the midvein, veinlets reticulate, base rounded, margin entire to slightly undulate, apex acuminate, petiole about 1-2 mm long. Flowers in short pubescent, peduncled pairs, zygomorphic, bracts glabrous about 3-4 mm long, bracteoles copular, paired flowers 2 calyx tubes separate, lobes ovate, Calyx limb tubular, margin irregular, Corolla shortly elongate and gibbous at the base, 5 lobed. Corolla tube narrow funnel shaped, base very gibbous, slightly pubescent, lobes about 0.5 cm obtuse, yellowish white in color. Stamens 5, anthers bilobed. Style exserted as long as corolla, hairy, 3-fid at the extremity. Ovaries free or half-coalescent in bud; fruits berry usually confluent into a single small spherical fruit, purplish-red, black when ripe, juicy, about 4-5 mm in diameter, supported by boat shaped membranous bracteoles. Seeds brown, ovoid.

Evergreen forests up to 4,000 to 7,000 ft.

not sure. cant make out the details of this light colored flower. superficially as i see it now. structure does not remind me of any honeysuckle family i know. i must say the venation is quite unique in the leaf
