It is a climber in semievervreen forests at about 300 m altitude, in Madei Wildlife Sanctuary, Goa.

Is it C. wightii?

efi page on Connarus wightii

It could be Connarus monocarpus L.

Local Name: Ghagrya (Konkani)

Fruits are used during Ganesh Puja in Matoli (Decoration)

If this is a large climber and fruits are about 2 cm long, this should be Tali minor of Connaraceae. I have seen this climber in the said locality.

Probably Connarus monocarpus/ wightii…. reference: Indian trees by Dietrich Brandis.

Connarussome‎ species in India & eFI with some keys

I am not sure. I have seen Connarus in Goa but species level not sure.

In a book titled ” Matoli” by Mr.Bhushan Bhave of P.E.S college of arts and science, Farmagudi- ponda- Goa, he has identified it as connarus monocarpus L.

It looks like Connarus monocarpus to me, too.

This should be a Connarus sp. a large liana.

Thanks … I missed that it is a liana.

True.  This seems to be the less frequent Connarus monocarpus L. rather than the common C. wightii Hook.f. which has striate fruits and greater number of lateral nerves per leaflet.
