[Efloraofindia_Cuscuta reflexa_021111PD01_ Flora of Odisha]: i am fortunate to get Cuscuta reflexa in flowering stage. Here is the attachment for sharing in the group.

Do you have a picture that shows the habit and habitat of the plant?

No … But i cud get it again tomorrow, as it was on the way to bhubaneswar. I did not took it as the flower was my focus. Any way i can share it tomorrow in the same thread.

please find attached here with the habitat photo of Cuscuta

I would go with C. reflexa. Reduced style, two clavate stigmas, flowers in cymes and long corolla tube are distinctive.

Yes it is C. reflexa.

Requesting to please validate ID of this climber captured near Manali, HP in October 2014.

I hope this is Cuscuta reflexa (based on FoI pics).

It resemles to Cuscuta Japonica

I hesitate to say, that, if Cuscuta japonica (syn. C. reflexa var. densiflora), which has spotted stem http://forests.world.coocan.jp/flora/convolvul-3.html, is not found in India then it is likely to be C. reflexa. At least petal lobes tally.

Thanks for the info, … Actually, I thought the spots on the fruits and stem were some kind of disease….

Hopefully the experts validate the ID…

cuscuta reflexa I think so.

Should be Cuscuta sp.

Cuscuta gigantea Griff.  ??

Thanks, …
We do not have any observation of this species in efi so far.
To me it appears closer to images at Cuscuta reflexa
Flora of Pakistan says Cuscuta gigantea is close to Cuscuta reflexa, but can be separated by its sessile stamens and well-developed style.

But these can not be seen in your post.

Thank you …

I agree it is rather difficult to identify without the inflorescence.

Sharing some photos of the Cuscuta.
Till about a week back I only knew this as a threadlike parasite plant that can engulf large trees.
I had seen many but there was nothing interesting. Till the other I suddenly noticed flowers on a tree that were not it’s own. On close observation it was the Cuscuta (name found out later).
This was my first encounter with these flowers. A brought a small branch home to photograph.
Name : Cuscuta, Yellow Parasite with threadlike appearance.
Location : Dwarka, Delhi.
Time : November 2018
Exact ID : Unknown

Cuscuta is a genus under convolvulaceae, with many sections. Being leafless, classification depends on stem thickness + color, floral characters and seeds.

Long bell shaped flowers with thicker stem …3 options …C .reflexa, C .japonica and C .krishnae.
C .reflexa flowers come directly on stem nodes. C .japonica flowers come on a short raceme of about 3 cm or less. C .krishnae has red purple color, diffuse or in dots on stem and flowers… borne on a short compact inflorescence.

In your trademark crisp images, I can see purple blotches and dots, plus are flowers on a peduncle ? If yes, how long ?

Sorry …, I did not measure. By the way is not recorded in Nepal.

I guess it is more close to Cuscuta reflexa Roxb.  !
