Again a rare plant for us. Never seen this in haryana

I can understand your feelings. But….
Being a plant of sea shores there is no chance to see it in Haryana even in future.

Yes … you are right but…..If We can grow perls (Moti) in Haryana than why not Ipomoea pes-caprae

Truly right spirit…

Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb- Creeper

I think, Ipomoea pes-caprae of Convolvulaceae family

I agree with Ipomoea pes caprae due to typical leaf shape and pattern. Earlier called as I.biloba due to the bilobed nature of the leaves.
… I would have appreciated it if you had written the place as- on sea shore. This climber is exclusively found on the sea shore.
If that was not the case please let us know.

Me too have seen this plant in plains, although not so far from the sea, a locality 15 km near to the sea..

Ipomoea pes-caprae ssp pes-caprae i think

It is Ipomoea pes-caprae, a very good sand-binder, common along coasts/beaches.

Ipomoea pes caprae. Earlier Ipomoea biloba due to the bilobed nature of the leaves.

The Ipomoea found on sea shores.
Helps binding the soil and prevents erosion.

Puducherry  near sea coast
Date: October 14, 2019 … Altitude range: about 0 – 3 m (0 – 10 feet) asl
Ipomoea pes-caprae  (L.) R. Br.

Beautiful catch. This is seen in Eastern coast sandy soils  adjoining Chennai  & Pondicherry

Though Calyx is considered a very important for identification in Ipomoea, and Convolvulaceae in general, subtle variations are I think a norm, and should be expected. This species … Ipomoea pes-caprae subsp. pes-caprae I had recorded last month in Surat and it has a little smaller set of calyx lobes, little smaller throat, and little longer tube than what … has shown here.

Attachments (3) Thanks … for showing the variations. A great help to those doing deep study of the species.

geographical differences and climate change is in play too!
