This plant, even the family is new to me. But i very much want to find a similar looking herb, very nice looking, a white ball on a stick!
This one looks similar – http://www.digitalnaturalhistory.com/flora_eriocaulaceae_index.htm to me and wiki claims it is reported from the southern part of India and Western Ghats.
But google search gives many similar looking plants of various species of the same genus.
This family seems to be less documented in the net.
Some genera in the family are Blastocaulon, Eriocaulon, Lachnocaulon, Leiothrix, Mesanthemum, Paepalanthus, Philodice, Syngonanthus,Tonina – http://www.elhogarnatural.com/familias/FamiliasE.htm.
Confirm whether any root tubers are present
Eriocaulon tuberiferum is the lone species with tubers in India.
Many thanks … for this important key information.
