Thanks for detailed list of names … believe me, I was not aware of the Punjabi name provided.. perhaps this is out now.. we call this Arhar in Punjab too..

Thank you very very much … for validating the Punjabi name.
I will be glad to get arhar OR harhar in Gurmukhi script.
I use The Panjabi dictionary by Bhai Maya Singh … most of the online dictionaries have archaic words, the modern and colloquial names are yet to gain entries.

Santali names of Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth:
I got the name ᱵᱟᱲᱮ bare for Cajanus cajan from your post.
I found one name raher in Santali-English dictionary by A. Campbell, of the Santal mission. Please help me with the name raher in the Ol Chiki script.

I’m very sorry for the very wrong information. ᱵᱟᱲᱮ  means Banyan tree (https://sat.wikipedia.org/wiki/B1%AE).. The source has some errors. Instead after asking my family members and some native people they said correct word for  Cajanus cajan will be Ghangra (ᱜᱷᱟᱝᱜᱽᱨᱟ) and not bare.
In the book for Cajanus Indicus, it is written raher whose transcription shall be ᱨᱟᱦᱮᱨ
I will recheck my post and update you, till then I request you to inform me like this so that we can avoid errors in future.:-)

Thank you very very much … for the correction. I will do the necessary edits.
Henceforth, I will mark a copy to you and all those whose help was in compiling names.
Thank you also for ᱨᱟᱦᱮᱨ raher.
Will incorporate the name soon.

And will also incorporate the name ᱜᱷᱟᱝᱜᱽᱨᱟ ghangra.

Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. AND Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth:
I was about to compile names of the species Cajanus cajan, when I stumbled across pages for each of these taxons – Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. AND Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth at POWO and GBIF, and perhaps they are listed similarly in other taxonomical sites. At Wikipedia, there is Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. … at eFI, we have Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth … at FoI, we have Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.
There may be some reason why both taxa are listed as accepted names; but I think they both are pointing to the same popular plant that is cultivated world-over. Please help me know which one is to be considered as heading for compiling its names in Indian languages. In my notes, I have been using Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.

https://www.ipni.org/n/1006709-2
If we follow CoL, Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. should be the accepted name !

It is better to follow IPNI when in doubt.

Thank you very very much, …
I will go with Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. as per IPNI.

On going through the following pages, I found:
GBIFCajanus cajan (L.) Huth as “ACCEPTED” and  Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. as “DOUBTFUL”
IPNICajanus cajan (L.) Huth … here, Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp. and Cajanus cajan (L.) Druce are mentioned as isonyms.
Thus, I am taking Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth as heading for compilation of vernacular names.

when dealing with accepted names we have to follow nomenclature rules

Earliest name for the plant is Cytisus cajan Linn., 1753
Since this species was later transferred to genus Cajanus, we have to follow earliest valid combination
We have these
Obviously Cajanus cajanus (L.) Huth is the accepted name
If you Google search, you will find most recent publications following this.
