efloraofindia:”Id 30092011MR28’’ view of giant trees Pune:
I know I am not supposed to post more than one plant in a thread but I want to share this view of giant trees that I get from my terrace with the members. Pardon me for that. Foremost is the Gulmohar tree, to the right is The Mast tree/Ashoka tree, Tamarind tree and the tree with yellow flowers I suppose is Yellow Gulmohar

The tree with yellow flowers can be Peltophorum sp., I wonder if it is also known as yellow gulmohar

Yes it is …

Photographed at Pune in Sep and Oct 2011
Common names Copper pod tree, Rusty shield bearer. Kannada: Peltophorum, Bengali: Radha chura
Quite often it is considered as `yellow gulmohar’
Compared to gul mohar this tree flowers for longer periods, and often you can see buds, flowers, pods (copper coloured) and also leaves in the same tree.
Does anyone know its Marathi name?

This is Radha chura … in eastern India….

Peltophorum Species seen earlier in Lalbagh.
Kindly help with the Species id.

Looks like Peltophorum ferrugineum. Nevertheless you need to check all the vegetative and floral characters to confirm as another species is also seen in Lalbagh.

Agree with …, a follow up is really called for floral characteristics may be too late, the flowers are mostly gone with the start of the monsoon, but may still find some fallen to the ground, and if not soggy & mushy.
good luck
do let us see your follow up photos.
