Common in hilly area. Very hardy plant. Fruit edible Fl. & Fr.: According to Bhandari flora-Dec-Feb, But I have seen Fl& Fr-Feb-June Thanks, …, for bringing such new species in highlight.

It commonly grows on dry sandy soils. It is very hardy, being capable of standing extremes of temperature and excessive drought. It is frost hardy and coppices well. Kindly identify this thorny shrub about 3-4 metres in height photographed in scrub forest on the fringes of the Sambhar Salt Lake, Rajasthan. Locally it was identified as “jharniya bambool” and “gulli“.
This is Vachellia (Mimosoideae). Please check which are the species thriving there.

I wish to inform that publication by Ali (Feb 2414) on this new combination antedates that of Ragupathy & al. (Mar. 2014) by one month and therefore the combination by Ali takes precedence. References:
