Vegetable Beans for ID : Mumbai : 011012 : AK-2: The beans are used as a vegetable.
Length of bean around 5 inches.
White flowers seen. Its probably vigna unguiculata subsp. sesquipedalis As the length of the bean is 5 inches as per Aarti ji, it should be Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. as per images herein. Wild plant ID request – RK68 – 25-Dec-2012:
Request identification of this wild plant with white flowers and trifoliate leaves from Tungareshwer. Any Spp. of Vigna I just searched the species you mentioned on the internet and maybe it is Vigna unguiculata since the leaves of Vigna vexillata are quite slim in the pictures on the net. But hopefully some other experienced ID request- 170811-PKA1: Looks like some species of Vigna … but not sure I think this is Vigna vexillata (L.) A.Rich. The wing petals and the shape of the leaves may not suggest that this as V.vexillata. I think it is Mucuna pruriens (L.)DC- it is extensive climber leaflets 3 ovate-triangular rhomboid-ovate apex subacute, base cuneate or inquilateral, flowers purple-mauve. The standard petals and the floral arrangement don’t support for M. pruruens as well. Mucuna pruriens always has dark purple calyx whereas the calyx seen in the picture are green. Another reason why the plant is not M. pruriens any chances of Dunbaria??? I think fruits are needed to assign this plant to it specific name. it looks more like Vigna. I find it closer to images at Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. Vigna species.. A fruit would be of help for I’d… It could be Vigna unguiculata. please confirm it. I went through my images of Vigna ungiculata ..the images here resembles to that. hence i can comfortably say it is Vigna unguculata; however there are few varieties in V. unguiculata as well.
