Branched herb; stem 4-angled, angles narrowly winged. Leaves lanceolate, 4 x 1.5 cm, estipulate, sessile, chartaceous, glabrous, 3-ribbed, base acute-cuneate, apex acutely acuminate. Panicles to 6 cm, axillary, also terminal; peduncles to 7 cm. Calyx-lobes 4, lanceolate, 5 mm, imbricate. Corolla white with blue or violetish spots distally on the lobes; tube 1.5 mm; lobes 4, broadly elliptic, obtuse, 9 x 4 mm, twisted; nectary basal, fimbriate at mouth and covered by a ciliate scale; glands orbicular, 1 mm wide. Stamens 4. Ovary 1-celled; ovules numerous, on parietal placentae; stigma 2-lobed.

I think it should be Swertia angustifolia var. pulchella (D. Don) Burkill as per keys at Flora of China

Please help me to identify this herb found in open grassland. Could this be Melastomaceae member?

Plant height about 10cm; leaf about 2.5cm long; flower up to 2cm across


Could be some Swertia sp.


This is Gentianaceae for sure.


I too think that this could be Swertia sp.
