Leucas Sp??: Came across this leucassp. at Kulang gad (20-09-09).

…………..looks like Leucas biflora

Could this be Leucas lanata Benth.???, as in :-

I take back my earlier comment, for i thought biflorus means two flowers as in – http://davesgarden.com/guides/botanary/go/841/#b.
But, according to a pdf available/downloadable at http://nopr.niscair.res.in/handle/123456789/12044
L. biflora var. procumbens have whorl of 1 to 6 flowers.
This confirms … ID.

thank u … I never knew there were climbers in Leucas

I too had no idea that Leucas has climbing species.

… oh, I could be wrong here! The flower with the signature tuft made me guess it as Leucas.
Let us wait for comments.

Interesting! Obviously some Lamiaceae.
Eager to know about this.
Is it really a climber?
… you forgot to reduce the size of images. It is taking too much time to open the images esp with slow computers

Yes … i too am eagar to know…..
i think, it was a small climber because i had seen it climing on near by larger erect herbs (but may be this is not the criteria for confirming it was a climber, so i may be wrong)
sorry for uploading heavy images. am reloading the lighter ones
thank you for the field botany course information. I am intrested in attending it but not sure if i can make it from Nashik.

I agree with … id. It may be Leucas biflora, a trailing herb (not climber!).

I tried to check out the L. biflora but thought that the leaves of the plant were different than that of these.

I have pasted some URLs of Leucas biflora which make me think that this is a different plant

I tried to check out a paper published in the Indian Journal of traditional Knowledge which exibits a few photographs of Leucas biflora var procumbens. these photos are similar to the ones i have clicked. I am sorry for the earlier mail. but your as well as … inferences seem to be correct.
thank you for helping out with this one.
