Premna microphylla (Cultivated)

S. China, C. & S. Japan to Taiwan (as per WCSP);
Requesting to please ID this small tree captured in Jijamata Udyan Flower Show, Mumbai in February 2014.
It is labelled ‘Narvel’ in Devnagari script.

Two names I found for Nervel from my mailbox:
1. Premna lignum-vitae (A.Cunn. ex Schauer) W.Piep. is a synonym of Vitex lignum-vitae A.Cunn. ex Schauer
2. Premna paniculata H.R.Fletcher

NARVEL in BIODIVERSITY INDIA = Premna serratifolia; also in a field guide; but KHARA-NARVEL in eFI.

NARVEL in a blog =  Premna mucronata = P. mollissima = P. latifolia
I do not know if Premna latifolia can have leaves with dentate margin, like the one in – http://openi.nlm.nih.gov/detailedresult.php?img=3530269_ASL-31-58-g002&req=4
According to Flora Indica Premna serratifolia bark is smooth and dark brown.

I think it more resembles Premna serratifolia, but I am not sure.
Hopefully, we get some expert confirmation.

From another thread: This should be Premna microphylla, for second thread of Jijamata Udyaan plant is also same. In southeast Asia this is also used as Bonsai, and I’ m sure photo should be of one of bonsai exhibition in Mumbai.

I agree with …, this is not Ruta graveolens..

It seems to be Premna sp.

Thanks, … Premna microphylla Turcz. does not have any distribution in India as per WCSP.

Since this species does not have Indian distribution but due to its medicinal properties it is under trade for so long in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicinal System, even used as a bonsai. 

Even I have some saplings at my place. It stinks if rub the leaves. Leaves are opposite decussate.

A similar pant has been identified as Premna serratifolia L. as per thread: Requesting ID of this small tree – Jijamata Udyan Flower Show, Mumbai – Feb 2014 :: 29MAY2014 :: ARK-55, for which also it stinks if rub the leaves.

Thank you … I will posting another Premna today with much thicker leaves (this tree here has very thin leaves), I was told that was P. obtusifolia (syn. P serratifolia)….would like to get the same validated…

This plant although identified as P. serratifolia does not resemble the other pics in efi for that species.
It looks more closer to P. microphylla.
Would like to hear from experts.

I saw this plant in the Jijamata Udyan, Mumbai in January 2017.
Looks similar to a Premna I saw in MNP and which was identified as P. serratifolia. However, I think it does not resemble other posts of P. serratifolia in efi.
Requesting to please ID.
